Jackelin Du Pre

Jacqueline Du Pre was born in 1945 in Oxford and grew up in Purley, Surrey (Great Britain). He was five when he first heard a cello on the radio and asked his father to buy him .Her mother, aprofessional pianist, bought it and last night wrote tunes with drawings on both touched scores the next morning.

Ten showed signs of musical talent that she left school and continued her instruction witha tutor, to spend more time on chelo.Her mother took her for lessons with William Pleeth, professor of cello.

When she was 11 she won the prestigious Suggia.Her professional debut was at theWigmore hall of the British capital, at sixteen años.Jacqueline du Pre was the subject of many honors, including Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1976, honorary degrees from seven universitiesand the Musician of the Year Award in 1980.

Jaqueline Du Pre died on October 19, 1987, at age 42 and was buried in Golders Green Jewish Cemetery. He left his Stradivarius cello "Davidov" Yoyo Macellist
