Dear Maria Fernanda,

Hello, how are you doing? I am writing you this letter to let you know how my new years eve went. The tradition here in Ecuador is to spend the evening with your family, havedinner with them and finally at 12:00 am we celebrate new year by burning a dummy, that symbolizes passing of the previous year, and the celebration of the upcoming year. We also eat 12 grapes, runaround the block with a backpack and wear yellow underwear, I know it sounds funny but everything that I told you has a purpose. For example the grapes symbolizes each moth of the upcoming year andeating them is a sign of good luck, running around the block is so next year hopefully you will be able to go to a trip overseas, and the yellow underwear is also for good luck. The night ends when thedummy is completely burn. We spend the rest of the night together and hope for a New Year full o accomplishments, good fortune and blessing for everyone we know. I hope you are doing great andhopefully I will hear from you soon.

Hola como estas? Te escribo esta carta para contartr como me fue en fin de anio.Latradición aqui en Ecuador es pasar la noche con la familia y a las 12:00 am quemar un munieno que simboliza el paso del anio viejo y la llegada del nuevo. Tambien comemos 12cuvas, corremos alrededor de lamanzana con una maleta y nos ponemos ropa interior amarilla. Se que suena gracioso pero todo esto tiene un propósito. Por ejemplo, las unvas simbolizan los 12 meses del anio y el deseo de tener buenasuerte en ellos, correr alrededor de la manzana es para que el próximo anio podamos hacer un viaje al exterior, y la ropa interior amarilla es para la buena suerte también. La noche termina cuando elmunieco esta completamente quemado. El resto de la noche la pasamos con la familia y deseamos que el anio que viene sea lleno de logros buena fortuna y bendiciones para todos. Espero que este bien y...
