Pupils have to get to know about the meaning BEHIND the TENSE SYSTEM expressed in every speech act/event. MEANING
SIMPLE PRESENTTENSE;
I am not very happy today. (Something is bothering me now/ I am usually happy). I am very happy today. ( Something happened recently that made me happy).
I am an architect. (I wasan architect last year. I’m an architect now, and I will be an architect until I retire) SIMPLE PAST TENSE;
I was not very happy yesterday. (Something may have bothered me yesterday). I wasvery happy yesterday. (Something happened yesterday that made me happy). I was an architect. (I’m retired/ I´m not an architect any more). Pupils have to get to know about the usage of thelanguage within its context during a act/speech event. FUNCTION “Say what you mean, and mean what you say” An angry mother: How many times do I have to ask you to turn off your radio?!!! Anaughty daughter: 6 times. The angry mother: #!%$/? ... (the angry mother slaps her daughter).
