Logistics

Logistics is defined as the set of means and methods to carry out the organization of a company, or service, especially distribution.
In business there are many definitions of logistics, which has evolved from military logistics even the concept of contemporary art and that deals with the organization of the flows of goods, energyand information.
Logistics is essential for trade. The logistics are the bridge between production and markets that are separated by time and distance.
The business logistics cover the management and planning (Administration) of the activities of the departments of purchasing, production, transportation, storage, handling and distribution.

Ballou of the WeatherheadSchool of Management, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland (USA), business logistics is "all movement and storage to facilitate the flow of products from the point of purchase of materials to the point of consumption and the information flows that are launched, to give the consumer the right service level at a reasonable cost.
The professor Lambert of Department of Marketing and LogisticsFisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, integrating the term into a more general logistics and defined as that portion of the logistics chain management (Supply Chain Management (SCM)) that plans, implements and controls the efficient and effective flow of materials and storage products and associated information from the point of origin to the consumer in order to meet the needs ofconsumers.
