Lymphatic Sytem
Functions of the Lymphatic system- Fluid Balance
It controls fluid balance by draining and clunking the fluids in the circulatory system that deliver nutrients and gases tothe tissues. It interacts with the vela in the digestive system to absorb and deliver fats to the circulatory system. It has an immunological protection against viruses, bacteria, fungi that coulddamage the cells of the body.
Interstitial Fluid: 90% of this fluid pulls back into the capillaries because of the difference in concentration of the fluid. 10% of the fluid enters the open end lymphvessel; once it enters it is called lymph.
Lymph Fluid
The lymph moves when you move your skeletal muscles. The contraction of skeletal muscles squeezes the nearby lymph vessels pumping them. Thispushes lymph’s through the vessels. There also smooth muscles in the large vessels, which adds to the force provided.
Edemas
When the lymphatic system is prevented from doing its job the fluids buildup in the tissue. More serious cases of edemas can occur in a tropical disease called elephantitis, it blocks the vessels and edemas are produced.
Lymph nodes
Encapsulated masses of lymph tissuesfound along lymph vessels. They are testing stations, they monitor the blood. They also produce lymphocytes and send into the blood stream to destroy invaders and filter so clean fluid returns to theblood.
Tonsils
Groups of lymph nodules under the mucus membrane and the throat. They form a protective ring around the throat to protect the body from foreign invaders. If the tonsils get infectedthey can inflame and enlarged, this condition is called tonsillitis, is its chronic they can be removed.
Peyer´s patches
Groups of lymphocytes in lymph nodules the small intestine. They are found...
