The Mafia
The mafia is a private organization that helps protect families from any danger. One of their maingoals is to earn more money than any of the other mafia families, they can become more powerful than the rest. All the families have their own names and they each have their own crime schemes, and havetheir own ways of handleling their business.
They have been around for hundreds of years; it started in Sicily. At first it was a way of life that would protect families and otherpeople from the injustices of the government. Then after the time went by the mafia became known as group of people that would commit crimes in the local areas. This was during the 19th centurypeople didn’t know what was going on and they didn’t have reason for why it was happening. The mafia has existed for over 100 years.
The American mafia is basically a crime networkacross the US, especially Chicago and New York. This mafia became more powerful when the Prohibition era started, because they would trade liquor even though it was against the law. After the prohibitionera, the mafia started to do illegal acts like gambling and drug dealing. As the crimes went on, the people weren’t surprised anymore of the violence in the streets, the gunshots, the car chases,etc. It all became “popular” since everyone knew about it, and Al Capone was one of the well known criminals.
In the 1920’s, a war broke out between two of the biggest mafia familiesin New York. The reason was that one of the mafia leaders, Salvatore Maranzano named himself Capo Di Tutti Capi, which means boss of all bosses. Maranzano found out about Lucky Luciano who was avery powerful boss, and ordered someone to go and murder him that same year. All of the American mafia families are well organized, and they all had a boss that was superior to the others and...
