MYERS AND BRIGGS TYPE INDICATOR

Created in 1942 by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers, during the Second World War, MBTI is considered one of the most popular personalitytest in the field of psychology. It helps people to indentify some of their personal preferences.

This indicator, is really common in group dynamics and personal development. Also in matrimonialassessment or pedagogy, but in our field is not such as important.

It is based on the idea of four groups: social, thinking, executive and spontaneous. The indicator does not measure and specificcharacteristic, it classifies the preferences and the way of being of people, so is not a specific goal, is just used to see in which areas, your skills are higher.

Even though parameters are innate,you can improve yourself as we do with our skills, but, in the other hand, the way you are is harder defined by the time, situation and context that go around you. The indicator tries to specify whenit happens, and comparing with people with same situations, is the way to indentify the types and parameters of your personal preferences.

An individual born and develop certain kind of skills orabilities by themselves, in the same way that they tend to be left or right-handed. For example, if you give a pencil to a little child, he will catch the pencil with one hand, and almost every time,he will catch the pencil with the same hand, is something with what you born, even if you can develop your writing with the other hand, your instinct makes you use one instead the other. In oneexercise, we had to write with both hands the same sentence, and the conclusion is clear. First of all, I am quite sure all of us caught first the pen with our natural hand. Also, what I saw is that mywriting is worst, slower, bigger and tougher.

MBTI classifies these personality differences in four pair groups: Extrovert/Introvert, Sensing/Intuition, Thinking/Feeling and Judging/Perceiving. The...
