As many inmigrants Ramon faced many difficulties in coming to the United States in the search of the "American Dream" but despite all these new challenges he had to experience it was worth it for himto come to the United States. For those who come here from other countries with the desire of a better life once they arrive here, just like Ramon Diaz, the American Dream is often misleading. Thetruth is that the work to get their dreams realized will not be nothing easy as well as the process of understanding what it means to be American. For Ramon his first instance of being in the US was oneof confusion without being able to understand the language, English, what made him take some time just walking in the airport. Since spending money in a hotel was not the best idea for his situationhe had to go to a small apartment where he realized that things were not as he had imagined them, mainly because of the expenses of living in the floor of a living room that he had to share with threeothers inmigrants from Guatemala. The little money he got in long-hours work and some problems with his roomate made him too look for another place to stay. He faced different problems in his severaljobs including the discrimination that many immigrants have to fight against when they come here. Trying to get a head with his problems he took in consideration the plan of make his papers bymarrying an American girl for $800, money that he lost when the girl never appeared. Even with all of these stumbles he still manages to work hard and give a place for himself when he meet and get marriedwith a women to obtain his citizenship. Sadly while Ramon form a new family his other family was just a distant memory, as part of a old life we wanted to end. He just wanted to get more and more forachieving a goal that was changing over time.
