Employees (Banking Sector of Pakistan)

Abstract
This paper studies the role of organization’s culture on the job satisfaction of the employees
belonging to the bankingsector of Pakistan. This study operationally defined culture in
terms of supervisor support, communication, rules & policies and rewards & benefits. The
data were collected through the distribution of a standardized questionnaire among 150
employees through a stratified random sampling. Validity of the scale was ensured using
factor analysis and internal consistency was checked using chronbach’salpha. Data was
analyzed using correlation and regression analysis. The result shows that supervisor support
and open communication make a significant impact on job satisfaction’s level (p <0.05).
Whereas, rules and policies, rewards and benefits has no impact on the job satisfaction of
the employees. Employee job satisfaction depends upon individual to individual
nevertheless supervisor supportand communication is not the only determinant of job
satisfaction. Although this study is conducted in Pakistan but it’s the anticipation of the
researchers that the result have a high degree of relevance on a wider scale. These findings
have high relevance for organizational managers. Aspects of the way the organization is
cultured affect how employees view their satisfaction with their jobs.Keywords: Job satisfaction; culture; communication; supervisor support; banking sector;

1. Introduction
This paper explores some of the important factors of the culture contributing towards the employee’s
job satisfaction by especially focusing the banking sector of Pakistan. Culture varies from organization

to organization. Every organization has a predefined culture which makes the employees behavior vary
from a positive to a negative attitude towards their jobs.
Aim of this paper is to find out how the culture (rules and policies, top supervisor support,
communication, rewards and benefits) is going to affect the satisfaction level of the employees.
Because of the fact that culture has astrong impact on the behavior of the employees which is followed
by the effectiveness of the organization, our main aim is to define the culture of an organization in to a
new and a broader concept which could have a more broader and a wider acceptance. This will also
facilitate the managers in understanding the organization in which they are working not only for the
formulation of the policies andprocedures but for understanding the human behavior and utilization of
their human capital in the best possible manner.
As the world has become a global village, it’s the time to rethink and to rebuild the new
conceptual definition of an organizational culture. As the technological advancement reduces the social
as well as the economic barriers, none of the organizational culture can be purelycalled as a
bureaucratic, democratic or entrepreneurial one but it’s a combination of many factors. And a concept
of multi culture organization has been arrived rather than defining the culture as multi culture
researcher highlights those factors (rules and policies, top supervisor support, communication, rewards
