Pasado Y Presente Continuo

El pasado perfecto continúo en inglés
Se usa el pasado perfecto continuo (past perfect continuous) igual que el pasado perfecto* para mostrar el orden de las acciones en el pasado. Además se usaeste tiempo para hablar de acciones que continúan durante un tiempo en el pasado ó para acciones no terminadas.

I had been watchinga documentary on television when the storm started.
1st action watching television
2nd action the storm started
Como formar el pasado perfecto continúo en inglés:
Affirmatives
Subject + had +been + present participle
example I had been thinking about work when she rang me. (Habia estado pensando en el trabajo cuando me llamó)
Negatives
Subject + hadn´t + been + present participleexample - I hadn´t been planning to go on holiday this year but I changed my mind. (No habia estado paneando ir de vacacciones este año pero cambié de opinion)

Questions
question word + had + subject +been + present participle
example - What had you been doing before the teacher got so angry?
Tips (consejos)
A veces se pueden usar otros tiempos en el pasado en vez del pasado perfecto ó elpasado perfecto continuo. Sin embargo se usan estos tiempos para dar más énfasis al orden de las acciónes.
