Peace, Our Gift To Each Other
The perceived need to findone better way to solve issues between nations is a principal motivation of many of the constitutions in the world. The introduction of arbitration and diplomacy, therefore, in a variety of constitutions, went into being as a preferred method of settling international disputes early in this century. This process can be evidenced in the creation of the League of Nations, then, in that of the UnitedNations, and other international organisms that promote international law vs. the use of force. Through arbitration and diplomacy, the world must get to a tipping point, where, as Malcolm Gladwell poses in his book, “The Tipping Point”, there is a magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire. This idea, trend, or social behavior, wouldbe shaped by governmental decisions regarding nuclear weapons prohibition. A series of ideas that would lead to governmental banning of the use of nuclear weapons must start being.

The United Nations must start recalling the undertaking by nuclear weapon states to accomplish, through their security policies, the elimination of nuclear arsenals, leading to nuclear disarmament. Central to this process is the will of countries to implement the UN’s millennium goals, as outlinedin section II, paragraph II, letters a, b, and c, regarding “Peace, security and disarmament”.

Through this process, governments can inform the world of their nuclear forces and plans, therefore lessening the chance of a nuclear waror an accidental exchange triggered by a misunderstanding, a diplomatic conflict, or a mistake from one of the parties. Governments must start the implementation of this process. Central to nuclear transparency is the will, and the constitutional power of a government to inform other parties of its plans and forces, which would lead to dismantling any operation any country is planning withsecrecy and caution. This decision would also mean that nuclear powers will abide by the rules of diplomacy, and will not destruct their counterparts by any means. This transparency plan would strengthen the means of monitoring compliance with the “Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)” as a counter to the global spread of advanced technologies.
The world must be aware that disarmament without...
