Abstract
From the 80, with restrictions on fishing in the vicinity of the Medes Islands and the subsequent declaration of
Marine Protected Area in the 90,there has been an increasing development of commercial activities in the
area although it has led to increased economic benefits also cause impacts on the environment. As of last year
with the enactment of Law 15/2010 for the declaration of Natural Park, the protection extends to the coast of
Montgrí and becomes imperative to draft a plan of use and management.
The frequency of tourism andoverexploitation of resources may jeopardize the very purpose of the statement
of reservations, so it is essential to regulate the activities managed in a manner consistent with the
conservation of the natural environment through the said plan.
This work is part of the Professional Practices from Master of Management and Restoration of Natural
Environment, conducted in the Natural Park ofMontgrí, Medes Islands and the Baix Ter under the direction of
Professor Bernat Hereu Fina Department of Ecology-UB and mentoring Alex Lorente, Marine Technician fron
the Natural Park.
This paper presents an analysis of the impact on different types of habitat caused by uses and activities that
develop in the sea area of the coast of the Medes Islands and Montgrí through scientific studies conductedboth in the study area and in areas that its affinity also serve to help provide management recommendations.
To this effect has also considered the views of various stakeholders and experts who were interviewed in
person and by email, to know theirs views about management has been developing and will be developed in
the park. Finally, summarizes those recommendations that were consideredrelevant to make the plan of
regulate the uses in the marine park and suggests a zoning map of the area.
Resumen
Desde la década del 80, con las restricciones a la pesca en el entorno de las Islas Medes y su posterior
declaración de Área Marina Protegida en los 90, ha habido un creciente desarrollo de actividades comerciales
en la zona que si bien ha provocado un aumento de los beneficiossocioeconómicos también causan impactos
en el medio natural. A partir de la Ley 15/2010 de declaración del Parque Natural, la protección se amplía a la
costa del Montgrí y se hace imperativa la redacción de un plan de usos y gestión.
La frecuentación del turismo y la sobreexplotación de los recursos pueden poner en juego la finalidad misma
de la declaración de reserva, por lo tanto es fundamentalregular las actividades gestionándolas de manera
compatible con la conservación del medio natural a través del mencionado plan.
Este trabajo forma parte de las Prácticas Profesionales del Máster de Gestión y Restauración del Medio
Natural, realizadas en el Parque Natural del Montgrí, las Islas Medes y el Baix Ter bajo la dirección del
profesor Bernat Hereu Fina (UB) y la tutoría de Àlex Lorente(Técnico Marino del Parque). Se Presenta un
análisis del impacto en los diferentes tipos de hábitat que provocan los usos en el área marina de la costa del
Montgrí e Islas Medes, a través de estudios científicos realizados en la zona de estudio y en otras áreas
afines que sirvan también de ayuda para poder aportar recomendaciones de gestión.
