PART I: CATEDRA II

INTRODUCTION AND DESCRIPTION

This inform is based on San Carlos de Aragón School. The first Cátedra was related to the buildings characteristics, location, the description of the environment, staff, facilities, hours, and some features observed in class at a first glance. This is to know about how the school works.

Now, I’m going to talk about some featuresobserved in class, but in a reflexive way. For example, the collaboration activities within my practice center, my participation inside the class, my help towards my subject teacher and my collaboration to the school in general.

Also, I’m going to talk about what I have observed in class, giving my personal comments. Something very important is what I would improve in the process of learningand teaching.

I’m going to explain if I achieved my personal goals and the student’s goals, that is very important, because that way you realize if you are doing your work well or not.

The principal goal is to give general information about the school and what happens inside of it.

COLLABORATION

I think that my collaboration within the school was profitable, because I was a veryefficient assistant, in the sense I was always very attentive with my subject teacher and with the students.

Every time, my teacher needs me, I was there, even when I didn’t have to be there. I was always asking her what she needed from me… I was very collaborator.

Every time she had to check tests, I helped her. Even, there were times that I had to take tests, when she had important things todo. I didn’t have any problems in being alone inside the classroom.

In fact, there were times that I had to explain some things in the class, because my teacher was very busy in meetings, the better part of doing the class is that the students understood everything in an easier way with me.

During the class, I was always attentive with the students if they had questions; I passed student bystudent asking them if they had learnt. When they had to do exercises, I helped them to clarify the content.

In fact, students like the way I teach, so they were always asking me if I do private tuition, but I couldn’t, because I was very busy with the University and my job.

Apart of that, there were no lesson plans during my stay in the school, because there weren’t times that I had to do aprepared class. This is because, the times I had to do the class was sudden.

I often helped my subject teacher in the activities as I said before, but all the activities there were no planned by me, because my teacher never was absent, only for short times.
DIARY

The only class that I did completely alone, it was when my English teacher at the University went to supervise me.

START AND END: 9:45 to 11:15 a.m.

STUDENTS: 44

The content was “comparative and superlative adjectives” the class took 45 minutes and the rest of the class, I did an activity related to the content seen in class.

The students in this course are very talkative and noisy, so I was afraid of them, because my teacher was going to supervise me, so I put myself in all the casesand I thought that I wasn’t going to control the class. But, I made a mistake, because that day was wonderful, all the students were very attentive to the class, their behavior was very appropriate to the context they were involved in, I was very surprised.
