Raise Boring
Well-Guide is a fully closed loop, point the bit, Rotary Steerable Tool The 10-300 Series Well-Guide covers the range of borehole sizes from 12 ¼" to 17 ½" Features Continuoussteering while rotating Point-the-bit :-
3 point geometry set up between the bit, NBS and Well-Guide upper stabiliser Gives smooth borehole with low tortuosity Wide range of bit types can be used –the bit drills on its front face (no side cutting action required). Independent of formation - low side forces are generated Closed loop on inclination and azimuth :- Minimal surface input needed toachieve or maintain course Can kick off to a target azimuth from vertical Rotating Stabilisers :Able to ream out of pack-off situation Normal drilling parameters can be used - no limit on mud flow orpressure - no limit on sand content or LCM Non-Mag construction Compatible with all drilling muds Reprogrammable downhole

Operating Principle Well-Guide takes a survey every1.5 minutes, using its own directional sensor package, and automatically calculates the correct toolface to achieve its programmed course. This toolface is achieved by hydraulically deflecting thecentral rotating Shaft relative to the non-rotating section to point the bit in the direction of the turn. The non-rotating section is prevented from rotating by ARD Springs incorporating tungstencarbide inserts. For reliability and long life the Tool is oil filled. Torque and drilling loads are transmitted through the central rotating Shaft. The Tool is initially programmed with a target course(inclination and azimuth) on surface and can be reprogrammed downhole by downlinking using a code of fast & slow drillstring rotations. Tool surveys, downhole temperatures, vibration and Tool...
