Course Objectives:
(1) ACCT 200 focuses on the collection, analysis, reporting, and interpretation of financial accounting data. Studentssuccessfully completing the course will:
a. Interpret business events and identify how they affect the financial statements of a business;
b. Demonstrate knowledge of accounting principles via the use of transaction and account analysis;
c. Analyze accounting information for use in business decision-making;
d. Strengthen critical thinking skills and develop an appreciation ofappropriate ethical behavior.
(2) Course content is based upon the following topics:
a. Financial statements; Accounting principles; Debit and credit analysis; Transaction journal entries;
b. Adjusting and closing journal entries; General ledger accounts;
c. Merchandising operations; Reporting and analyzing inventory;
d. Reporting and analyzing cash, investments,receivables, and long-term assets;
e. Reporting and analyzing liabilities and stockholder equity; Cash flow statement.
Class Preparation and Conduct:
(1) Regular and prompt attendance at lecture sessions is a condition for the granting of academic credit. As a courtesy to all present, please turn off cell phones and other electronic devices prior to entering the classroom.
(2) Readings andassignments should be thoroughly studied prior to each lecture session and should be frequently reviewed during the semester.
(3) Formation of study groups (composed of three to four persons) is highly recommended.
Grading:
1) Course grades are assigned according to the following scale:

|B- / B / B+ |2.67 / 3.00 / 3.33 |80.0% - 89.9% of total points |
|C- / C / C+ |1.67 / 2.00 / 2.33 |70.0% - 79.9% of total points |
|D- / D / D+ |0.67 / 1.00 / 1.33 |60.0% - 69.9% of total points |
|F / D-|0.00 | 0.0% - 59.9% of total points |

(2) The grade of "I" (Incomplete) is not assigned, except under extreme circumstances – at the Instructor’s discretion. All assignments and grading criteriaare to be completed during the Spring Semester. No extra-credit assignments will be available. Plus and minus grades may be assigned at the discretion of the Instructor.
(3) Grading is based on the following criteria:
