Slavery
Meanwhile, in the North, many religious groups worked hard to end slavery in the United States. They were morally opposed to the idea that one person could "own" another. Abolitionists inthe North wrote books, published newspapers spreading their ideas about slavery, and often assisted slaves to freedom when they ran away from their masters. Southerners believed that abolitionists wereattacking their way of life and that the Federal government was not doing enough to protect their "property" from running away. Southerners were also concerned that new states were entering the Unionthat did not permit citizens to own slaves, because the more "free" states that entered the Union, the weaker Southerners' influence in the Federal government would become.
* Slaves are animportant part of Kentucky agriculture.
* People should not be bought and sold like property.
* The slave trade is very important to Kentucky's economy.
* The Union should be preserved at allcosts.
* The Southern part of the United States should become an independent country.
EFFECTS
there are many effects of the civil war like, after the war the south had many bitter feelings aboutthe war and the kkk came to be.  Some other effects the civil war had was inflation and after that money wasn't worth as much as it was before.  The south was in ruins because most of the biggestbattles were in the south because the south played defense and the north played offense except the battle of Gettysburg that  was the only battle that the south attacked and the north defended.  That is theonly reason why the war lasted so long because the north had a lot more supplies and people and the north knew the short cuts and were more experienced.  After the civil  war was over some of theslaves didn't know what to do so they went back to the same farm they worked on and got payed.  The south was placed under military rule and moved into districts and they had to reapply into the...
