While the speech’s respectful eloquence is appropriate for the occasion of an inauguration, its youthful energy and look to the future make it distinctly John F. Kennedy’s. The tone of his speech ishopeful and set an exemplary political speech to achieve the purpose of give hope and sounds perfectly for the situation the country was going through. He promised people a change for the country tobecome more united.
John F. Kennedy uses a lot of rhetorical strategies in his inaugural address to make the speech effective and persuasive for the audience and to give himself a tone ofprofessionalism and knowledge. These strategies make a great function in his speech. For example the metaphor that is one of the most common and easiest rhetorical schemes to recognize or find in a text ornarration is used for Kennedy in the speech to make people understand better what he was trying to say or what he meant. Also, it was better to use a metaphor to make people imagine the reality with asymbolism of comparison. In addition, one of the metaphors he uses appears in the speech when he stated “And if a beachhead of cooperation may push back the jungle of suspicion”. John F. Kennedy impliesin his metaphor that corruption can be stopped or even push back into disappearance.
Equally important, Kennedy uses unremarkable dictions and unforgettable quotes that define his charisma andbelief of a great country that is the United States of America. By the way, being the first Roman Catholic president he talks about religion appealing to ethos, pathos and ethics, for instance ‘’the rightof man does not come from the state but from the hand God’’ demonstrates that he is vividly religious and cares for the citizens’ religious beliefs. John F. Kennedy started his presidency while andaround the cold war which lead to problems leading the United States of America, but even with the country’s war problems and possibly nuclear warheads John F.
