The simmulation of Reality. A critic of the reality show. SUM M ARY Reality shows are one of the most successful television genres in the last few years. The exploration that this article will makearound this genre consists of three parts. First, the tension that realities cause between representation as a traditional aesthetic style and simulation as an emergent aesthetic style will beexamined. Second, the way realities participate in the construction of the world as image will be described. Finally, the article will explain the role that realities play in the contemporary aestheticeconomy, and offer a socio-psychological explanation of its seductive power. The article approaches the study of reality shows by taking a critical perspective to the entertainment industry. Key words:reality show, television, entertainment, simulation. Una crítica del reality show Leonardo Ordóñez Díaz Posiblemente la televisión ha sido un desarrollotecnológico decisivo en el auge que vive la industria del entretenimiento desde mediados del siglo pasado. Telenovelas, musicales, miniseries, concursos y otros formatos constituyen hace ya muchos años el pan decada día para millones de televidentes en todo el mundo. El andamiaje dedicado a la producción de estos programas continúa prosperando pese a que sus resultados suelen traducirse en una pobreprovisión de espectáculo y de ficción para consumo de masas. Dentro de este marco, en momentos en que apenas comenzamos a vislumbrar las repercusiones sociales de largo plazo asociadas a la globalización dela producción televisiva, una nueva tendencia se está haciendo sentir.
