Typology and Morphology arespecific-architectural subjects. Along this thesis about typology, and supported in a series of work hypothesis, they open up a lot of chapters that would practically embrace a theoretical casuistry on architecture. But the discussion continues open: we should understand that there is no possible conclusion over a “theory of the architecture". Anyway, the knowledge that typology offers is deep, that is to say: itdiscovers, transmits and applies architectural laws; it elevates the architecture up a certain dignity as a discipline. I have developed a certain apocryphal history of the theory from the architecture, ordering the bibliographical material used through a personal anthology that has gone from the demonstration of the existence of the operation tipológica in the Renaissance, and its definitions inthe Enlightenment, to the description of the current state of the question, in time of crisis about any theoretical base of discussion. I have tried to develop a “theory of the type", although the introduced chapters constitute a lot of hypothesis that relates types with certain theoretical budgets, in general and of the architecture in particular. I said that the way to the architecturalrationality leans on the typology, being defined the type as “a logic of architecture”. This way, the presence of the typology in the whole composition process allows it to be between architecture and society. Type appears as the resource that allows the relationship (organic, classic) among the epistemological categories of the architecture (mainly, the relationship form-function-construction). Becausethe definition of types as genetic structures, with its principles of entirety, transformation and self-regulation, we can affirm that types transform itself, they have their own life, allowing any change. In the final chapters I have tried to defend for the typology a place in the architectural creation, outlining the presence of typology in the whole compositive process. Somehow, we can foundthe operability of types as in the analysis as in the project, in any scale and size, from the building detail to the whole territory.

Tipología y Morfología parecen ser lo específico–arquitectónico. A lo

largo de la tesis se ha recorrido un camino, apoyado en una serie de hipótesis de trabajo, abriendo a la vez sendoscapítulos que, prácticamente, abarcarían una casuística teórica sobre arquitectura. De cualquier modo, el discurso se ha cerrado pero provisionalmente: la discusión sigue abierta porque debe entenderse que no es posible conclusión alguna sobre “teoría de la arquitectura”, más allá de acuerdos provisionales. De lo que no cabe duda es que en esa discusión el debate sobre la tipología es pertinente, yello por varias razones: En primer lugar, a través de la búsqueda de abstracciones situamos la arquitectura en su lugar disciplinar, y la tipología provee de instrumentos para ello. En segundo lugar, plantear la temática del tipo como “lógica de la arquitectura” significa racionalizarla, es decir: hacerla trasmisible. Por último, la tipología tiende el puente desde las ideas de

arquitectura haciala propia disciplina; establece el contacto entre la sociedad y la arquitectura. Pero no hay que olvidar que la tipología no agota toda la teoría de la arquitectura. A lo largo del trabajo se ha ido relacionando la tipología con aquellas categorías que deberían ocupar una teoría de la arquitectura; pero esa relación se ha establecido a niveles muy abstractos.
