Uses of “get”:
The Word get is an informal Word and is more common in spoken English than written English.
We use get when:
We receive something: - My son will get a price this evening
-SomedaySpongebob will get his driver license
-Alice got a Valentine from a secret admirer.

Meaning become: “get” before an adjective usually means become
- I’m getting nervous in this place
- My handsare getting cold

Obtain: when somebody is looking for something
-she’s trying to get a new job
Also means buy:
-where do you get those shoes. (where do you buy those shoes)

Fetch (go forand bring back)
-could you get the books from the cupboard? (could you)

Get + past participle
Get can be followed by a past participle. This structure is often used to talk about things that we doto ourselves.
e.g.: -I only two minutes to get dressed
Another expression in past participle:

-get married
-get divorced
-get changed (change clothes)

It is also used in passivestructures:
-My tv got broken while was playing
(In American English, the past participle of get is gotten)

Get is so common with certain words (often describing a change of state)
-It’sgetting:-hot/cold, late, dark, etc.
-I’m getting: hot/cold, hungry, tired, etc.
Getting better mean has an improvement in some ability (I’m getting better in dancing)
