GENERAL INFORMATION

THE DEVELOPER

Valle Escondido is the great vision of an American inventor and business man, called Sam Taliaferro. He wanted to do something appealing to thoselooking for an exotic yet first world lifestyle, so he developed the idea of creating a residential resort community in the mountain highlands of Panama. He borrowed the idea for the project, from the legendary ¨Galt´s Gulch¨ from the famous novel ¨Atlas Shrugged¨ by Ayn Rand. The novel tells the story of a dynamic capitalist, tired of government regulations and harassment. This man creates acommunity within a hidden valley, where like minded individuals gather to create a new and better world; and so Sam did, he created Valle Escondido.

Sam Taliaferro, as we previously mentioned, is an inventor by profession and has developed and patented numerous technologies that are actually used in industrial factories throughout the world. He has also built a number of manufacturing operations, thelast one in Central America. In fact, this is the first land development project that he has undertaken. He has assembled the needed qualified people to assist in the planning, development, construction, marketing and sales of the project.

Nevertheless, before building Valle Escondido, he had never lived in a gated community and never thought he would, because he thought that such a placewould be like living in a compound and that it would alienate him from the local community. But, when he moved to Boquete in 1998 he had an epiphany. He saw a small town with a small town charm, with many foreigners moving to live there, bringing prosperity to the place. And this is very much as you see it today.

Sam´s vision greatest thing is that all the construction he has promoted, has beendone to enhance the area´s natural beauty, not to destroy it. Because, as Sam says, ¨That´s why we came here in the first place, after all.¨ So you can tell we are dealing with an honest man, who really did his homework for this project, providing us with a wonderful retirement destination.
