Women In The Victorian's Age
How has this changed along the story? Which have been the changes in the role of womenduring the Victorian’s age? Were they just thought to be at home waiting for their husbands as they were taking care of their family or they could have an important role in the period? All thisquestions and a lot more have been set out during the years and some of them have no answer or the answer is not clear enough to us.
Doing some researches, I have found information about the motherhood,the way they were dressed and why, the way women are seen in Conan Doyle’s book, what they did in her daily routine and the changes in their rights.
To start, we can talk about how they are seen inConan Doyle’s books, for example, in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1891-1892). Conan Doyle was not unaware of the role of women during Victoria’s reign. Conan Doyle wrote this story in a newspaperand when he decided to kill his character the public decided not to accept this and he had to rescue him. Why am I talking about Sherlock Holmes if I am going to talk about the women in this period?This is being a little introduction to show how women were seen by the author of this book and it is shown in these books, in particular, we have to say that Sherlock Holmen never loved a woman allalong the different stories.
