Prólogo

Siempre he creído en el poder de los cuentos. Para mí es un instrumento muy especial en la

comunicación entre padres e hijos. Permite hacer fácil lo difícil y accesibles al niño muchos temas
que, de otra forma, no sabríamos cómo abordar.

Un cuentosiempre lleva a preguntas y a respuestas, a entablar una comunicación que puede

aclarar muchas dudas.

De este cuento, en especial, hay que destacar la osadía de la autora de tomar un clásico y

transformarlo. Con esta metamorfosis consigue, a mi entender, tres cosas importantes:
1- Tratar una realidad social que existe, acercándola a la realidad del niño.
2- Abordar con naturalidad un temadifícil; no para los niños, pero que sí puede resultarlo para
algunos padres.
3- Abrir una puerta para comenzar a educar al niño en la diversidad y la tolerancia como algo natural.

Sólo añadir, que espero que éste sea el primero de una larga lista de libros infantiles en los que se
constate que el amor, sea del tipo que sea, es bueno.

I have always believed in power of fairy tales. I think they are a very special tool in communication

between parents and their children. They allow us to talk about things we otherwise wouldn’t
know how to focus.

Fairy tales always lead to questions and answers, to a communication that can clarify many doubts.
In this fairy tale we have to point out the audacity of the author to take aclassic tale and

transform it. With this change, according to my point of view, she achieves three important
things:
1– To talk about a social reality that exists approaching this reality to children.
2– To talk about a difficult matter –perhaps not for children but it might be for some parents- in
a natural way.
3– Open a door towards an education in which diversity and tolerance is somethingnatural.

I

hope this one is the first of a large list of books for children in which one can learn that love is
always good, regardless of who it is you love.

the idea that one day, when
she grew up, she would become queen.
T hey told her things like:

– W hen you are the queen

you must respect the people just like we do.
Some may be richer than others…
Some may be more intelligent,
others may be not…
Someof them are blond, others dark haired.
A ll of us are different.
You and me are different, aren’t we?
I am taller than you, and you are smaller.
But this doesn’t mean any of us is better
than any one else.
We all can be great persons
with all our differences.

Su padre, el Rey Andrés,
ysu madre, la Reina Elena,
siempre la habían querido mucho.
A la princesa la educaron pensando
que un día, cuando fuese mayor,
llegaría a ser reina. L e decían cosas como:

– E l día que llegues a ser reina

tendrás que respetar a tu pueblo,
igual que hacemos nosotros ahora.
Unos serán más pobres, otros más ricos...
Unos serán más inteligentes, otros no tanto...
Unos serán rubios y otros...
