1 ✎ Linguistics:
The systematic study of the nature, structure, and variation of language.

2 ✎ Psycholinguistics:
It is the study of the psychological andneurobiological factors that enable humans to acquire, use, comprehend and produce language.

3 ✎ Sociolinguistics:
Is the descriptive study of the effect of any and all aspects of society, including culturalnorms, expectations, and context, on the way language is used and the effects of language use on society.

 4 ✎ Phonetics:
It is the branch of linguistics that deals with the sounds of speech and theirproduction, combination, description, and representation by written symbols.

5 ✎ Phonology:
It is a branch of linguistics concerned with the systematic organization of sounds in languages.

 6✎ Morphology: 
It is the branch of linguistics that studies word structures, specially in terms of "morphemes".

7 ✎ Grammar:
A set of rules and examples dealing with the syntax and word structures of alanguage.

8 ✎ Syntax:
It is the study of the rules that govern the ways in which words combine to form phrases, clauses and sentences.

9✎ Semantics:
The field of linguistics concerned with thestudy of "meaning" in language.

10 ✎ Pragmatics:
It is a branch of linguistics concerned with the use of language in social contexts and the ways in which people produce and comprehend meaning throughlanguage.

11 ✎ Semiotics: 
It is the study of signs and symbols, specially as elements of language or other systems of communication.
