1) Basic Black Dress - It is often called the “Little Black Dress”, and it’s true that shorter skirts on the basic black dress, when they hit you in theright place, can be more flattering than a long black dress.
CHECK. I have two in fact. Neither is completely appropriate for big dinner events, but they’re both good for work, for cocktail parties,and funerals. Good enough! Here’s my nice origami dress from Banana. (Bought in the US! Much cheaper..)

2) Trench Coat - The trench coat is one of the pieces that is both classic and currently a hotfashion item. Most any store sells this piece now. It is great for fall and you can pick it up in a wide range of lengths.
CHECK. I don’t have this, but it really isn’t necessary in Singapore’sclimate, and I have a black fall coat that I love which I use when I travel, so CHECK!
3) Dress Pants - Although it doesn’t say black, this is probably what you want to look for. Black is flattering onall figures and goes with everything.
NOPE. I have several pairs of black pants, but they really aren’t dress pants per se. I don’t think any of them are nice enough to pair with a snazzy top for anice dinner. The fabrics just aren’t right. I’ve always wanted a good pair of dress pants actually.
4) Classic Shirt - The white shirt is a definite classic. But it can also come in many differentstyles to make it look trendy and not dated or like a man’s piece of clothing. Find one that accentuates your best attributes and minimizes trouble spots.
CHECK. Actually I’ve never found my perfectwhite shirt, mostly because I am long-torso’ed and have tons of trouble finding shirts that are long enough for me. I do have one I can wear for work, but it doesn’t fit that well and looks a littlestained now. BUT, I just very recently got the prettiest off-white shirt from Max Studio at a massive discount, and it’s not your typical white button up shirt but eh, I love it! CHECK!
