Simple Past / Past Continuous
In the following descriptive exercise put the verb in (…..) into the past progressive ‘to be’ (was, were) + (verb)-ing, or past simple. If the negative sign(- ) is placed after the verb put it into the negative form: “ was/were” not (verb )- ing or ..”did not (verb)” etc.
EXAMPLE: “Shiela (talk) was talking on the telephone when James (come) came in.”Guided writing
Last night, while I was doing my homework, Angela (call) _called_.She said she (call) _was calling _me on her cell phone from her biology classroom at UCLA. I casked her if she(wait) _was_waiting_for class, but she said that the professor was at the front of the hall lecturing while she (talk) _was_talking_ to me. I couldn't believe she (make) _made_a phone call during thelecture. I asked what was going on.
She said her biology professor was so boring that several of the students (sleep, actually) _slept_in class. Some of the students (talk) _were_talking_about theirplans for the weekend and the student next to her (draw) _drew_a picture of a horse. When Angela (tell) _told_ me she was not satisfied with the class, I (mention) _mentioned_ that my biology professorwas quite good and (suggest) _suggested_that she switch to my class.
While we were talking, I (hear) _heard_ her professor yell, "Miss, are you making a phone call?" Suddenly, the line went dead. I...
