Feed Gates

Front View

The Feed Gates align the front edge of the sheets as they are waiting to be fed into the machine. They are a major influence on registration and prevent early and double feeds.
®

A blower on thedrive side of the Feed Section draws air through the front cross-tie, vacuum ducts, and in the top of the feed table. This holds the sheets tight against the table.

A BUpper Feed Roll

The No-Crush™ Upper Feed Roll is a dual durometer roll. This means the urethane covering is two different hardness. A harder longer wearing outer layer (A) and a softer, pliable inner layer (B). This combination makes a long lasting roll that will not crush the board.
®

Upper Feed Roll

The grooves in the roll allow the pliable inner layer to expand (or displace) whenthe sheets pass through the nip. This prevents crushing of the board.
®

Lower Feed Roll

The lower Feed Roll has a straight Knurl design. This design allow excellent grip and wear, while producing little to no paper dust.

Vacuum Plate Mounting
The Ward Vac-u-Mount™ plate mounting system uses vacuum to hold the special vacuum printing plate to the cylinder. No straps or tape is required.

®

Vacuum Plate Mounting
Vacuum is drawn on the cylinder by a blower mounted on the drive side of themachine. Valves in the cylinder, below the lead edge mounting strip draw a vacuum through the screw thread-like groove in the cylinder.

Chambered Blade System

Ink is pumped into a chamber created by the doctor blade support bar, the upper and lower blades and the anilox roll.
®

(A)

Anilox Roll

Chambered Blade System

The Upper (or Doctor) blade (A) scrapes the ink from the surface of the anilox roll leaving ink only in the cells of the roll.
®

Anilox Roll

(B) The Lower(or Chamber) Blade (B) creates the bottom of the chamber and retains the ink.
®

Wipe Roll System

Wipe Roll

Anilox Roll

®

Ink is pumped into this trough. The wipe roll then works as a squeegee to remove ink from the surface of the anilox roll leaving ink in the anilox cells.
