It's called electronic learning (also known by the anglicized e-learning) to fully virtualized distance education via new electronic channels (the new communication networks, especially the Internet), using hypertext tools or applications (e- mail, web pages, discussion forums, instant messaging, training platforms that combine several of the aboveexamples of applications, etc.) to support the teaching and learning processes. In a related concept with semi, also called b-learning (blended learning).

The b-learning is a method that combines distance education and classroom education; retaking the advantages of both approaches and complementing the learning of apprentices.

Teaching

Thanks to the new students "online" can communicate and collaborate with peers "class" and teachers (teachers, tutors, mentors, etc..), Synchronously or asynchronously, without time-space limitations. That is, can be understood as a form of learning in distance educationused in data networks as media (Internet, intranets, etc..), Or tools to support hypertext applications (eg, email , web, chat, etc..) and the content and / or online learning units as training materials (eg, from simple images, audio, video, documents, etc., to complex multimedia productions, "training pills", etc. ., not to mention the content built collaboratively, from the development of theso-called Web 2.0), among others.

In distance learning, is one of the currently most often used to address the need for continuing education or permanent. The generation of professional development programs is growing unregulated because there is a recognition that workers are trained and adapted to new production requirements. Given its characteristics and the technological support behind it, itprovides an alternative for those who combine work and update, as it is not necessary to go to a classroom permanently.

If distance education is, from the outset, an option to meet the adult education, it has the advantage that users choose their own hours, and can enter the platform from anywhere you can access a computer and have Internet connectivity. Virtual education provides an opportunityfor the student to choose their hours of study making it a great option for those working and autonomous to study in their spare time, on the other hand it is important to mention that e-learning is an excellent tool that can help users not only to learn new concepts but also to strengthen knowledge and skills, increasing the autonomy and motivation of students in different subjects.
AdvantageThe advantages of online training are:

Practical immersion in a web 2.0 environment.
Elimination of spatial and temporal barriers (from home, at work, on a trip through mobile devices, etc..). Is a big advantage for distributed organizations.
Practices in virtual simulation environments are difficult to obtain in classroom training without a big investment.
Real knowledgemanagement: exchange of ideas, opinions, practices, experiences. Collective enrichment of the learning process without boundaries.
Constant updating of the contents (logical deduction from the above).
Cost reduction (in most cases, methodological and, always, in the logistics).
It allows a better balance between work and family life.
Decreased time required.

DisadvantagesIn the case of the "inconveniences" are a few:

Requires more investment of time by the teacher (at least in its initial part).
Requires a minimum technological skills of the teacher and students.
Requires that students have skills for independent learning and collaborative.
You can decrease the quality of training if not given a proper teacher-student ratio.
Requires...
