Today's society is overrun with individuals who are obsessed with the way they look. Of course, the majority of people obsessed may tend to be women, butmore and more men are jumping to the same side. Actors and actresses, singers and models. All these people have an image to uphold, it is their business to look their best and most promote beauty andfitness items for the everyday people. So everyday people try to imitate them, and that is getting worst. So most people are conscious of the way they look. Both the fashion and cosmetic industry isbuilt around people's image of themselves. The majority of people make an attempt to look as good as they can. It helps them to feel good about themselves. But what happens when this need to look goodtakes on a life of its own? What happens when we will stop at nothing to change the way we look?
To begin with, it is very worrying that our society is so interesting on what is "artificial" andnot what is natural. Beautiful teenage girls don't believe that they are, they go on diets, have eating disorders,etc. Girls are wearing revealing clothes and too much makeup. But the worst thing isthat they never are the thinner enough to them. They tend to be sick of bulimia and anorexia, some girls because of that die, and others leave school because their parents wants to treat them, so theylose time in their life. Natural beauty is something to be praised, it is hard to find these days. For example there are people who color their hair, they are not superficial, but rather the peoplewho go to extremes, you know who they are. These people spend a fortune on personal trainers, personal chefs, and sometimes plastic surgery. Many men and women try to appear younger. And othercriticizes the ones that have problems of weight or appear too old for their age.
