- The soft news are the adverts, the cartoons, the crosswords, the tv guide, the horoscope, the elections, the weddings, etc.
- The hard news are the mayor events, the plane crashes,the assassinations, the mayor crimes.
The reporter's job is divided into two:
- The specialists are focus on one area (environment, finance, politics, sports, show business).
- The general arefocus on differents areas (accidents, crimes, music, weddings, politics).
Three steps in the process of writing a story:
- Researching the story: the reporter has to research (reading files, visitinglibraries, etc).
- Building the story: The reporter has to interview people involve in the story. And the reporter has to interview the people who remember the story.
- Writing the story: thereporter arranges facts according to their importance.
New agencies: The newspapers are foreign organizations that collect information and then sell it to the newspapers because journalists are veryexpensive.
The editor has two conferences every day:
- 1st conference: The editor meets his senior staff in the morning. They discuss: the stories, the headlines and the pictures.
- 2nd conference:During the day, news stories and pictures arrive so the pages can change. Every evening, there is a second meeting to discuss these changes and the front page is finally produced.
