Shiny New Balloons
Story By: Andrew Frinkle
Olivia was a little girl. She loved balloons. She
liked helium balloons best. They floated up. They
touched the ceiling.
She would pull theribbon. The balloon would
come down. Then it would float back up.
Every Saturday, her father would buy her a
balloon. On Saturday, the balloon was very full. It
floated high.
On Sunday, the balloonfloated. It still floated
high. It was not as full though.
On Monday, the balloon was not full. The balloon was not floating well. It
started to sink.
On Tuesday, the balloon did not float.It sat on the floor. It was not full.
On Wednesday, they threw the balloon away. It made Olivia sad.
Father loved to get her balloons. Her father did not like to see her sad. He
had a plan.
Thenext Saturday, father did not buy a balloon. He bought an air tank. It was
a big green tank. The side of the tank said Helium.
Olivia watched her father fill a balloon. The balloon was veryfull. It floated. It
was very nice. She was happy.
“When the balloon is not full, I will fill it again.” Father told her.
“I can keep my balloon forever?” She asked him.
“Not forever, but for along time.”
“I think I will be happy for a long time.” Olivia smiled.
