The word “critique” is frequently uses while talking about Duchamp’s work of art because of the fact that his methodology is totally based on critiquing what can be defined as art; for example: thereadymade with this work Duchamp wants to activate the spectator to think about whether if it’s art or not. What is that makes art be art? how meaning is made, is it because we decide it? is art, artbecause society says it? these are some questions the artist whats to raise on spectators mind, while analyzing his work of art. Minimalism wants art to stop been just an optical experience, its purposeis to create an space where the body is able to interact with the work of art instead of just seeing it, the viewer becomes part of the art. The movement wants to display the conditions of perceptionand display breaking with the ways in which the viewer is use to interpret a work of art. Space and interaction are two really meaningful concepts in minimalistic art; minimalism puts asidetechniques(reducing the importance of aesthetics) to think more about composition therefore to visualize the work as a whole. Robert Morris states that concept and experience are both possible because of thebody. Inviting the viewer to participate and interact with the work of art the artist points out that art is not separate from life, instead is an important element for its development.“Control isnecessary is the variable of object, light, space, body, are to function.The object itself has not become less important.
