Do you know how or why the Norman Conquest was started? The Norman Conquest began in 1066 with the invasion of England by William, Duke of Normandy, whose success was the Battle of Hastings, whichtook control of England.

In 911, the Carolingian ruler Charles the Simple allowed the Vikings to a community, led by Rollo, to settle in northern France in order to be protected along the coastagainst Viking invasions possible. So the Vikings began to be called North men, Norsemen, from where the Normans. The Normans, soon assimilate the local culture, renouncing paganism and understanding ofChristianity, and as there is also the Norman language. Normandy is a region of northwestern France, where in previous years to 1066 there were several Vikings. In 1066 King Edward the Confessor diedchildless, where there is a fuss about the power on the English throne to the Normans advantage. Where there are three candidates for King Harold III of Norway, William the Conqueror (Duke of Normandy),who claimed as heir of Emma of Normandy and Ethelred II, and finally Harold II of England, who had been elected king. William promised them land if he could conquer England, a change that they cared about the team for the war horse, armor, weapons and shield. Williamlanded in the south, sailing from Saint-Valery-south-Somme. After delays because of the time, William built a wooden fort at Pevensey, near Sussex. The fight was a slaughter and raw as the Normans manageto kill Harold, brothers, and defeating their troops. When William and expected to be named king, they elect a new president, Edgar Atheling, who is appointed king supported by the nobles andbishops.
