Biological Development

Development begins with fertilization, the process by which the male gamete, the sperm cell,- the oocyte, fuse to give rise to a diploid cell, the zygote. In pregnancy the 3 stages are commonly referred to as ZEF - meaning Zygote, Embryo, Fetus
In medicine, pregnancy is defined as beginning when a fertilized zygote becomes implanted in a woman's uterus. This occurswhen the zygote then becomes embedded into the endometrium (lining of the uterus) where it forms a placenta, for the purpose of receiving essential nutrients through the uterus wall. The Umbilical cord in a newborn child signifies the remnants of implantation. The zygote undergoes rapid mitotic divisions with no significant grown (a process known as cleavage) and cellular differentiation, leading todevelopment of an embryo.
Childbirth is the process in which the baby is born. It is considered by many to be the beginning of a person's life, where age is defined relative to this event in most cultures

Psychosocial Development

According to Erickson, the socialization process consist of eight phases the “eight stages of man”. His eight stages of man were formulated, not through experimental work, but through wide – tanging experience inpsychotherapy, including extenseve experience with children and adolescents form low – as well as upper – and middle – social classes. Each stage is regarded by Erickson as a “psychosocial crisis”, which arises and demands resolution befote the next stage can be satisfactorily negotiated. These stages are conceived in an almost architectural sense: satisfactory learning and resolution of each crisesis necessary if the child is to manage the next and subsequent ones satisfactorily, just as the fundation of a house is essential to the first floor, which in turn must be structurally sound to sopport and the second story, and so on.
Psychosocial development as articulated by Erik Erickson describes eight development stages through which a healthily developing human should pass from infancy tolate adulthood: In each stage the person confronts, and hopefully masters, new challenges. Each stage builds on the sucessful completion of earlier stages, The challenges of stages not successfully completed may be expented to reappear as problems in the future.
The following eight principles are key components of Erikson’s theoty of Psychosocial Development: 1) Oral – sensory, which encompassesthe feeding process in infants; 2) Muscular – anal, which is comprised of the potty training process; 3) Locomotor, which facilitates the process of Independence; 4) Latency, which encompasses entry into a school setting; 5) Adolescence, which enables Young adults to establish various forms of peer relations; 6) Young adulthood, which allows individuals to form loving relationships with...
