The Brittany-Santana Relationship, also commonly referred to as Brittana or, as Santana refers to them in Blame It On The Alcohol Santittany, is the romantic relationship and friendship between Brittany Pierce and Santana Lopez. They were considered to be best friends throughout Season One, until the episode Sectionals, when Brittany implied that they slept together (more than once,as Brittany said that if sex was dating she and Santana would be dating), transitioning them to a "friends with benefits" status. There remained some ambiguity in the nature of their relationship until Duets, when they were shown in Brittany's bed together making out, even though Santana said it was because Puck was in juvie; however, in the episode Sexy, Santana and Brittany admitted that theylove each other as more than just best friends. While both seem to want to be together, Santana is afraid of the repercussions of coming out of the closet at school.
In season 2, Brittany dates Artie , leaving Santana lonely. Santana becomes "beards" with David Karofsky (pretending to be each other's "significant other" to fool people about them being gay), to get Kurt back to McKinley, win promqueen, and get Brittany. She says Brittany is so gullible that Santana could convince her that being with her was the law of the land.
In Pot O' Gold, it was revealed that Brittany and Santana had been dating for awhile and their relationship eventually became official. Ever since Santana was a victim of mudslinging on Reggie Salazar's campaign, people suspect that she's a lesbian. In I Am Unicorn,Brittany states that she is a "Bi-Corn", possibly meaning that Brittany is Bisexual. Brittany also mentions the word 'bi-curious' several times. In I Kissed a Girl, Santana finally embraced herself and is now no longer afraid to show PDA with Brittany. Their first real on screen kiss was shown in the episode Heart (while they were dancing), after Santana dedicatedCherish/Cherish to Brittany (notcounting the little peck in front of the locker shown earlier in the episode in a flashback). Earlier in the episode, they had a near-miss: they were about to kiss, but Figgins addressed them ("Teen lesbians!") just before their lips met. In Saturday Night Glee-ver, Santana and Brittany are involved in a 'Sex Tape Scandal' because Brittany posted a sex tape of them on the internet (which displeasesSantana: she was not consulted beforehand) after hearing from Santana that she doesn't care about how she becomes famous. In the end, they tell each other they love one another so much. In Nationals, after the New Directions win, their welcomed back by the school as they celebrate while the song Tongue Tied is playing. You can catch Santana and Brittany having a romantic kiss.
They have had asexual relationship and also an intimate friendship. They were in the Celibacy Club, Cheerios, and Glee Club together. During the school day, they are constantly together and they sit Behind the scenes of Hell-O together during Glee Club meetings. They frequently held hands and linked pinkies all through season one. While Brittany often makes unintelligent and nonsensical remarks, Santana rarelycomments negatively but frequently gives her questioning looks, laughs or defends her from any harsh comment made directly at her. In one instance, Santana helps Brittany when she doesn't know her right from her left. In another, Santana says "leave Brittany alone" when Kurt tries to blame Brittany when Mr. Schue says no to performing a number by Britney Spears. While Santana is often tough in herrelationships with other people, she shows a softer side to her personality when she is with Brittany. The two are often seen intimately cuddling, holding hands and walking with their pinkies locked. The pinkies locked thing seems to be their handshake. Also, they are often seen wearing matching bracelets and backpacks.
