Al final de este módulo los estudiantes deben de escribir una composición expositiva que incluya una tesis junto con hechos y detalles. Composiciones también deben incluir conclusiones y breves introducciones.

Craft
El estudiante trabajará con una variedad de presentaciones para atraer al lector en sus composiciones expositivas.
El estudiante escribirá una composición expositiva condetalles exactos, observados por el escritor.
El estudiante leerá y analizara varias piezas de literatura expositivas e intentara usar estas técnicas en sus propios escritos.

Nos da datos y detalles sobre personas, lugares o eventos; puede tener los subtítulos y características de texto que ayudan a explicar y organizar las ideas; contiene una introducción, detalles y una conclusión; y contiene ideas principales y detalles de apoyo.






Explain tostudents that during this module they will be writing an expository essay that deals with a special place (Un lugar especial).

Prompt: Expository Prompt this is a different promopt from the Unit. It may be used to practice
Expository Unit - These are the same lessons that were taught in the 3rd six weekssecond module. The structure of the lessons is the same for every expository composition. Therefore, these lessons are applicable for any expository writing.
• In our reading series we read the story, Cartas a casa desde Yosemite, where the author wrote about a special trip that she/he had made to Yosemite National Park. Refer students back to this story in Scott Foresman, Calle de la Lectura.
•Point out the different places at Yosemite that the author thought were special. Revisit this story in Calle de la Lectura, Unidad 1 Volumen 2. Point out how the author noted special places within Yosemite. (Badger Pass, Yosemite Valley, Bridalveil Creek/Fall)
• Model for students how in the section, Giant Sequoias, the author uses descriptive language to describe the trees found there. (Es laespecie más grande de árbol en el mundo y se encuentra sólo en las laderas occidentales de las montañas de Sierra Nevada).
• Explain to students that when we talk about something specific we need to use descriptive language.
• NOTE: Students will develop 1 piece completely by the end of this module. This does not mean that your students can only write one piece to address the prompt. Writerscan write several different essays pertaining to this prompt using new strategies to improve the pieces.
Display the Expository Prompt linked above.
Use Lesson 2 from the Expository Unit to analyze the prompt. Have students read the whole prompt page before they even think about what they are going to write. Remind students that the first direction says to readthe information in the box. Have a student read this sentence out loud.
Now read the words written in the box. Remind students that this is not the prompt. This is just a stimulus to get the students thinking.
They are next directed to PENSAR about the places you like. Remind students that they are still not writing at this point. They are just thinking about the places you like.
The nextdirection says to ESCRIBIR. This is the prompt. Esto es lo que realmente voy a escribir sobre. Lea el mensaje a los estudiantes. Underline that it says they are to write about one special place and also underline where it says to Explain. Draw special attention to the part that there are two parts to the prompt.
