NATURE

In the conference by Esteban Suarez (BNKR Arquitectura.) there was a project that represents the concept nature “La capilla del atardecer en Acapulco”, this is a chapel located in Acapulo at eh top of a mountain, limiting the construction possibilities because of the irregular shape of the land; BNKR created a project of a chapel, inspired on the shape of rockusing concrete to build it, and taking advantage od the sun light by putting specific windows according to the sun and its movement during the day. The shape of the building looks like emerging from the mountain, the space is surrounded by trees and natural vegetation, this project plays with the nature around in order to create a magnificent chapel, that merges with the environment, but at thesame time outstands at night when the lights are on, in the inside it’s a simple design that provides light and lets the visitor to observe the top od the trees.

ATMOSPHERE

“A buildings has give an option to stay outside, go to a terrace, courtyard, or the inside; he takes advantage and creates a mood.” – Richard Meier.
During the conference given by Richard Meier he emphasized about theimportance of creating an atmosphere, he explained the importance of creating spaces that will make the people feel confortable, or in the mood to accomplish the original purpose of the building, the atmosphere is not just the environment of a place, is also how the people feels and enjoy being or interacting with an specific place. He showed the examples of houses and projects he has build, and theimportance he gave to he lobbies, living rooms, gardens, or public spaces so they became a pacific and confortable place to socialize and interact with others.

In other Project explain by BNKR architecture was shown The Taiwan Tower which represents the concept Type is presented in the proposal, They protected the idea of a contemporary tower, but mixed with particular characteristics ofthe two nations involved, they use as inspiration or antecedent, the Naica caves in Chihuahua, and the Tangra Game from Taiwan (table game) they played with the shapes of the Tangra in order to obtain the esthetic shape of the tower, an in the inside the organic shape of the walls and decoration makes the visitor feel inside a cave. This are just the main examples or more notorious, but the buildingis full con symbolism of the two cultures.

When?

TIME

In Pablo Durao´s conference, he spoke about time and its importance in architecture; The suspension of time is the magic of how a person feels when in determinate moment, where this feeling can last in the memories or in mind of a person. Durao talked about how constructing is not just about creating a roof fir protection is aboutmaking magic and poetry in the process. The actual time in architecture, depends on the hour when the Project is being used a Project can radically change during the different hours of a day. In architecture time is not just a measure, is the travel through the building, house, museum or any Project and the time spent inside.

How?

LIGTH

Light wasn’t the most commented topic at DiseñoPunto MX, but I think there where certain architects that mentioned light in a very subtle way but still showed its importance. BNKR architects showed that they are masters of light, first at the “Capilla La Estancia” then, in the “Capilla del Atardecer” they believe that light in a chapel should be subtle and calm and relax, and you need to be cautioned about how sun develops during all day long.SIMPLICITY
