Chalatenango.
Chalatenango (known as "Chalate" by locals) is a town and municipality in the Chalatenango department in the northof El Salvador. It is the capital of the department. It has a population of over 30,000 people. Spanish is the official language. The city has many beautiful rivers, high mountains, typicalrestaurants, and places to camping like El Pital hill, also it has tourist sites like, turicentro Agua Fria and The waterfall and natural pool La Joya but the most important it has generous people ineverywhere. And if you wish you can get some interesting handcrafts, hammocks and others things.
The economy is based on agriculture products like corn, rice sugar, beans and milk products. More milk productsare produced in Chalatenango than any other department of the country. Corn, rice, beans and sugar are grown in wet areas.
Chalatenango is home to the professional football. Another popular sportin the region is ranching or Jaripeo. Events take place every few months in the villages around Chalatenango. Hundreds of thousands of tourists visit Chalatenango each year to enjoy its uniqueculture, rich history and beautiful shops, museums and restaurants.
