Communication- is the process by which people transfer information, ideas, attitudes, and feelings to each other.
Symbol- anything that represents something else. They take many forms.
kinesics-the study of body movements as a means of communication.
Cultural specific- meaning one thing to one culture but something quiet different to another culture.
Intercultural relationship- aprocess in which messages created in one culture must be processed and interpreted in another culture.
sign language- a visual form of communication using hand shapes and movements to talk or express anidea, it is not uniform or universal.
Linguistic diversity- the many languages spoken in the united states and through out the world.
bilingual- speaking 2 languages fluently
multilingual-those capable of speaking more than 2 languages fluently.
linguicism- discrimination based on a language.
cognitive flexibility- adjusting to many situations when speaking more than 1 language.Electronic communication- the imparting or interchange of information through technology. Cell phones, or internet.
Impression management- the ways in which people attempt to control the impressionthey make on others and how others see them.
Cultural diffusion- the spread of objects and ideas from one culture to another.
