Chirimoya

Resumen La exportación de chirimoya a Estados Unidos, nuestro principal mercado comprador, está limitada por la presencia de la falsa arañita roja de la vid Brevipalpus chilensis Baker, que se presenta como un ácaro de carácter cuarentenario para ese país. Debido a esto se han empleado diferentes medidas para eliminar el 100% del ácaro cuarentenario en los hospederos. Por ejemplo, se utilizaBromuro de metilo para la exportación de uva de mesa y limones. En chirimoyos se hace una inmersión de la fruta en agua con detergente y posterior encerado, logrando un 100% de mortalidad tanto de huevos como de estadíos móviles. No obstante, al éxito de estas medidas, hoy se quiere exportar la chirimoya bajo un "System Approach", este consiste en un conjunto de medidas destinadas a mitigar el riesgode que en un embarque se presente el organismo en cantidades peligrosas, y así permitir que se definan condiciones de ingreso menos restrictivas. Para este propósito, es fundamental determinar por medio de un monitoreo, la importancia de Brevipalpus chilensis Baker en un huerto destinado a la exportación, obteniendo datos cuantitativos como la prevalencia de la plaga en los huertos y lafluctuación poblacional a través del año. En el primer caso se selecciona, una vez al mes, 100 árboles completamente al azar, de los cuales se cosecha una fruta y se cuenta la cantidad de ácaros presentes en ella. Para la fluctuación poblacional, el monitoreo consiste en seleccionar 4 árboles, quincenalmente recolectar ocho muestras de fruta y ocho de hojas y contar tanto el número de huevos como el deestadíos móviles. Este monitoreo permite establecer la prevalencia del ácaro en el huerto, que en este caso llegó a un peak de 0,45 individuos por fruto previo a la cosecha, nivel suficiente para impedir la exportación. Además, determinó que el ácaro se encuentra presente todo el año, con baja población invernal pero que se incrementa hacia la cosecha, observándose tanto en fruta como en hojas y enforma de huevos y estadíos móviles. Con los datos obtenidos en un monitoreo, se deben tomar medidas de control (en campo o post-cosecha), que permitan reducir las poblaciones naturales que existen en los frutos.

Abstract The exportation of fruits like cherimoya (custard apple) to the United States, our main buying market, is limitated by the presence of the "falsa arañita roja de la vid"Brevipalpus chilensis Baker, which is a quarantine acarus in that country. For this reason, there have been applied several measures for eliminating the totality of quarantine acarus from the hosts. For example, the methyl bromide is used for the exportation of grape and lemons. In the case of cherimoyas, the fruit is immersed in water with detergent and, then, it is oilclothed, reaching a 100% ofmortality of eggs and mobile stages. Despite the success of these measures, it has been recently thought to export the cherimoya by a System Approach, which consists in a group of measures appointed to the diminution of the presence of the organism in dangerous quantities, and thus allow the definition of less restrictive entrance conditions. For this purpose it is necessary the study of the impact of theBrevipalpus chilensis Baker at an export to obtain quantitative data, such as the prevalence of the plague in orchards and the fluctuation of the population during the year, in the first case, once month there should be randomly selected 100 trees, from each one fruit is selected and counted the number of acarus in it. For the fluctuation of the population, the monitoring plan consists in theselection of four trees, and to collect randomly every two weeks eight fruits and eight leaves and then to count both the quantity of eggs of mobile stages. This monitoring plan allows define the acarus prevailing at the orchard, which in our case reached a top of 0,45 individuals for every fruit before the harvest; a level that would not permit the exportations.
