Main characteristics: The culture of Egypt has thousands of years of recorded history. Ancient Egypt was amongthe earliest civilizations. For millennia, Egypt maintained a strikingly complex and stable culture that influenced later cultures of Europe, the Middle East and Africa. After the Pharaonic era, Egyptitself came under the influence of Hellenism, for a time Christianity, and later, Islamic culture. Today, many aspects of Egypt's ancient culture exist in interaction with newer elements, including theinfluence of modern Western culture. Ancient Egypt comprises 12 periods before common era (B.C.) and begins with the Predynastic Period in 5464 B.C. It ends in 30 BECE with the finish of the GreekDynasty. The ancient Egyptians have been credited with making advances in agriculture, medicine, and architecture.

Origins: The origins of ancient Egyptian society, culture, and people have long been of interest to scholars from different disciplines. While the term"origins" is multidimensional, here it refers to the geography of a population's linguistic, cultural, and biological beginnings and its wider connections.

Consequences: In southern Egypt, the Naqadaculture, similar to the Badari, began to expand along the Nile by about 4000 B.C.. As early as the Naqada I Period, predynastic Egyptians imported obsidian from Ethiopia, used to shape blades andother objects from flakes.[15] Over a period of about 1,000 years, the Naqada culture developed from a few small farming communities into a powerful civilization whose leaders were in complete control ofthe people and resources of the Nile valley.[16] Establishing a power center at Hierakonpolis, and later at Abydos, Naqada III leaders expanded their control of Egypt northwards along the Nile.[17]...
