The nature of the change in the market was that with the accumulation of snow in the eastern UnitedStates because of low temperatures, the demand for heating fuel was higher. More people are needing of heating fuel, so demand will be higher, the more money the government spends, themore expensive fuel is.
The increase in gasoline demand generates an increase in the price of gasoline. So the increases demand shifts the demand shifts demand curve to theright, because any event that increases demand shifts the demand curve to the right.
The factor which induced the shift curve to the right is because of the need to increase patrol, therefore the demand increase, in other words, the government purchase more gasoline because there are more people need, and then the government selling more expensive for thosepeople. One point that I never thought is what really happened in Rhode Island, because of the high level of snow everybody need more heating fuel. This is true because moreheating fuel will be spend, so people will need more. But another thing that could change in the demand of gasoline is if big storms pass in Rhode Island consequently destroyingeverything there. I am sure that everybody that lives there will need both heating fuel and gasoline to survive. That is another point that would increase the demand of gasoline.
