Introduction
Free trade agreements (FTAs) have proved to be one of the best ways to open up foreign markets for Chilean exporters. FTA is an agreement made between two or more countries under which countries involved are given preferential market access. FTAs' partner countries provide each otherfavorable treatment on trade, investment, provision of services and trade facilitation as well as economic and technical cooperation. Chile’s image in front of other markets is really good when we talk about raw materials and Chile is a good client of other countries. We need to know about FTA’s in general, so, we made this for give knowledge about two specific countries: Canada and Chile.What is a FTA?
A Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is a regional or bilateral trade agreement to expand the market of goods and services between countries. Basically, is the elimination or substantial reduction of tariffs on goods between the parties, and agreements on services.This agreement is governed by the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO) or by mutual agreement between the countries.Nowadays Chile has 13 FTA:

FTA Canada Chile.
Canada–Chile Free Trade Agreement (CCFTA) is a trade agreement between Canada and Chile. It was signed on December 5, 1996 in Santiago, Chile and came into effect on July 5, 1997. Tariffs on 75 percent of bilateral trade were immediately eliminated. It was Canada'sfirst free trade agreement with a Latin American nation and was Chile's first full free trade agreement. Over the first decade, trade between Canada and Chile increased by 266%, with the trade of goods rising from $718 million in 1996 to $2.34 billion in 2006. Bilateral service trade increased to $164 million by 2005. Canadian investments in Chile reached $5.17 billion in 2006.
The Canada-Chilerelationship is well-established, multifaceted and growing. We have a strong framework for cooperation between our countries, anchored in our shared values, strong trade and investment relationship and extensive people-to-people ties. We also work closely together on regional and global issues, and continue to seek out opportunities to expand this cooperation into new areas.
In 2012, Canada andChile are celebrating the 15th anniversary of our Free Trade Agreement, which continues to be the cornerstone of our strong and growing trade and investment relationship.
For Chile have a strong link with Canada, a member of the G-8 and one of the largest economies in the world, is of great importance. Both countries share similar ideas as greatly depend on foreign trade.
Economic activity hasbenefited very much with the FTA is mining, currently more than three quarters of trade with Canada are mining products, which is consistent with the strong presence of Canadian capital in Chilean mining.

Overall, the FTA considers the following topics:
* Eliminate barriers to trade and facilitate the movement of goods and services between the territories of the Parties.
* Promote conditionsof fair competition in the free trade zone.
* Increase substantially investment opportunities in the territories of the Parties.
* Create effective procedures for the implementation and enforcement of this Agreement, for its joint administration and for the resolution of disputes.
