Discovery of america.

The discovery of America expression is commonly used to refer to the arrival in America of a Spanish expeditionary force that, representing theCatholic Monarchs, departed from the port of Palos, commanded by Christopher Columbus, and arrived on Friday October 12, 1492 to an island called Guanahani. Voyages ofthe Portuguese to India following the African coast meant a stimulus for other European navigators who believed it was possible to reach the regions of East Asia by sailingwest. Christopher Columbus was in favor of this hypothesis. Supported by the Spanish monarchy, organized a journey of exploration that led to the American coast in 1492.Columbus believed he had reached Asia, called by Europeans Indies and died without knowing that it had reached an unknown continent by Europeans.
The term "discovery ofAmerica" to refer to the arrival of Columbus in the Americas has been criticized by various sectors, cultures and students, leading to a large and passionate debate.This article adopts the term as meaning, all trips made by Columbus in the Americas, the encounter with the Spanish American cultures that inhabited these lands, and therelationships and conflicts between indigenous and Spanish immediate that this meeting occurred.
This is one of the highlights of world history because it marked themeeting of two human worlds that had developed independently, no one knew the other's existence.
