“Nothing in life is free”, this is a famous saying that we hear from our parents at every moment. Maybe this saying could be applied as a perfect example of thepyramid business. A company where you invest money, and after a few months you will receive twice the money invested plus the initial money. Too easy for gaining money isn’t? The biggest pyramid companywas DMG created by David Murcia Guzman. In my personal opinion DMG pyramid was a way of cleaning dirty money from narcotraffic, and what is more relevant can affect the economical structure either bygaining easy money or risking big amounts of investment.
To begin with, the invested money for creating DMG came from extorsions and narcotraffic, guerrilla had deals with some drugdealers so theycould be financed to buy guns and making terrorist attacks. It is proved that some money that was used by DMG, is “chupetas”money, one of the biggest drugdealers in the country. Also authorities foundout that some politicians where involved in DMG and with the guerrilla. A politician, Héctor Helí Rojas from liberal party was investigated because of presumed relations with DMG and be financed by themin his campaign.
On the other hand the economical structure also is affected specially in poor departments. Cities like Mocoa, Pasto where the most affected in all the country, people lost alltheir money and personal goods. More than 70% of people where in bankruptcy. After DMG was closed people went to the government claiming for help, so the money they invested was given back to them. As itis remembered all these claiming was transformed into violent reactions of the people against the government for closing DMG.
Although because of DMG people who had small capital could invest it andgain in a few time three times the amount invested. As a result people could build their own company or a small business increasing their rate of life. People would have money, this increases the...
