Dead of a Gallant

Recent news about the death of a “gallant” has been reported. Dallas Winston, a young juvenile delinquent, unconsciously decided to steala magazine from a grocery store, so that the police will come after him, and then shoot at him. The grocery man reported him after Dally’s victorious escape. In the end, the police shoot him,and then, Dally ends up dead. This event took place in a New York street. It happened at night. Sources tell us that the death of this young boy happened because Dally’s best friend, Johnny,recently died from trying to save little kids inside a burning church in Windrixville. After Johnny’s death, Dally went crazy. This is significant because Dally’s childhood was said to be “tragic”,so the police said that he has already been in jail for several times. Also, Dally’s neighborhood said that his parents don’t care about him, whether he’s dead or alive. There were also othercomments from Johnny’s neighbors, saying that Johnny’s parents beat him up, but Johnny was very innocent, so Dally cared very much for him.
One of Dally’s friends, Ponyboy, states that Dallywanted to die, so it wasn’t a surprise that someday, Dally was going to end up dead. He also said that when he was with his brothers and his friends, Ponyboy’s older brother, Darry, answered a callfrom Dally. He said, “It was Dally. He phoned from the booth. He’s just robbed a grocery store and the cops are after him.” Dally’s friends came running to where this young boy was, but Dallywas being chased, and then shot by the police. Ponyboy said that, “Dally didn’t die a hero. He died violent and young and desperate, just like we all knew he’d die someday. Just like Tim Shepardand Curly Shepard and the Brumly boys and the other guys we knew would die someday. But Johnny was right. He died gallant.” Since Ponyboy’s words, Dallas Winston has been known as a “gallant.”
