Good day Mr. President, distinguished Delegates, I appreciate for giving the word to the delegation of the Republic of Italy.
Nutrition is an important subject to discuss, becausegood nutrition provides more than energy, structural components, vitamins and minerals. There are other substances in the foods that you eat that have become better known over the lastfew years. It is essential that we know our country’s nutrition.
Italy has a very strong rate of healthiness. It has faults, like our food is very delicious because of it’s famouspizzas and pastas. And those are one of the most fattening foods. But Italian food in summary, is one of the most healthiest. Because the real Italian recipe does not contain manycarbohydrates and saturated fat. But variations had made that Italian food contain much more calories.
Eating disorders are very common in Italy. The most frequent are anorexia and bulimia.Especially because of the fashion and model industry that are very famous in Italy. The causes are many like: family problems, the society with their publicity encouraging people,especially women that being extra skinny is beautiful. But the main problems of Italy are the ones mentioned.
Many campaigns fighting against these disorders have been launched. Althoughthe anorexia and bulimia rate has decreased for over the last few years, the problem does not disappear.
So today dear delegates of the member countries of the UN, we are here tohelp not only our citizens, but also our partner’s townsfolk too. To reunite and join forces with every ally, so that together we can find a global answer and solution to this mainproblem. For ours and your people that suffer dealing with these sickness and eating disorders.
