Elvis Presley

Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935 - August 16, 1977) was one of the most popular American singers of the 20th century, regarded as a cultural icon and widely known under her firstname, Elvis. Referred to often as "the King of rock and roll" or simply "the King".

He was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, but when he was 13 years old he moved with his family to Memphis, Tennesseewhere, in 1954, began his artistic career when Sam Phillips, the owner of Sun Records, saw in him the way to expand the African American music. Accompanied by guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist BillBlack, he was one of the creators of rockabilly, a style of fast tempo driven by a constant rhythm that is a fusion of music, country and rhythm and blues.

After reaching an agreement that was youragent for nearly two decades, Colonel Tom Parker, the record company RCA Records got a contract to broadcast his music. The first single with this company, 'Heartbreak Hotel', published in January1956, became a number one hit. Soon, after his appearances in the media, he became the main figure of the popular sound of rock and roll, with a series of television presentations and hits that reachedthe top of the sales charts. His interpretations full of energy, especially from African-American songs and his uninhibited style made him enormously popular and controversial. Months later, inNovember of the same year, he conducted his film debut with the film Love Me Tender.

Recruited for military service in 1958, he resumed his artistic career two years later, becoming part of its materialto achieve greater commercial success since then. He gave a few concerts, however, in the 1960s, led by Parker, proceeded to devote himself to shoot Hollywood films and soundtracks, many of themridiculed by critics.
