A moment where I experienced great pride
My work experience in my country, Peru, was the greater success I have had in my life. I hadworked for 20 years in two mining companies, “ Castrovirreyna Metal Mines,’’ and “Volcan Mines,” as the head of industrial relations.
I started as the head of industrial relations at thebeginning of 1973 in the mines San Genaro, in Huancavelica Peru. My main function was to administer and manage the policies compliance and procedures of human resource regulations, as well as toensure proper harmony of the relations with the workers. I have strong memories from one of my activities which were doing periodic visits underground in the mine accompanied by the head of security, toverify some claims the workers and the head of mine used to do mostly claims related to the working conditions.
In 1980, I had to address and resolve all types of industrial problems, inaddition to stressful situations, such as receiving a visit from a faction called the terrorist group “ Sendero Luminoso” , we meet at the office of the superintendent of the mine to hear the petitions Iwanted to make such a provision of food, medicine, work uniforms (boots, overalls, shoes). In the course of the reunion were present an army captain with a group of 10 soldiers had to leave thereunion to attend to them and tell we apologize for 20 minutes, because we were in a meeting with union workers and invite to spend the dining room for self care, while trying to finish the reunion withsenderistas and provide the mobility need to promptly requested item in stock. Thus was solved a problem that could bring fatal consequences, because we were between two sides who could face and hurtmining populations.
For me these work activities were challenging and rewarding l for my professional performance in the mining industry of my country, for me was the best moment of success.
