Student Led Conference Turn Out
When you first attend Kuna Middle School, the beginning of the year you will notice a bighub bub about one certain event, a Student Led Conference. But what is the big deal? Why cant they just have regular Parent Teacher Conferences? Well, according to teachers, a Student Led Conferenceis supposed to put you on the spot of why your grades are like the way they are, instead of the teacher explaining to the parent this.
Before you can have a Student Led Conference, you must pick thehour you can make it to the school with your parent and/or guardian. A good SLC (Student Led Conference) shows your parent your grades and other things you have done so far arranged in a portfoliolike fashion. The SLC could be full of questions from your parent about grades, work that you’ve done, what you will do, or all of the above. The night will end when you give a signed on track report andyour SLC folder back to your Advisory teacher. Don’t worry if you miss the night of your conference. The school will have you report your grades to a teacher and you will conference with them.
Whatis the opinion of the Student Led Conference this year in 2012? Coming from student and parent and even teacher resources, it is said that the conference was a huge interference in their lives andcould do without it. Some kids just went in with their parents and quickly got it over with and having it done in only a fraction of the time expected because of the impatient parent. Parents go intothe conference and instantly want to go home, and believe it or not, your teacher has a life too, and they want to go home and relax just as much as you do.
If we have all these negative responses tothe SLC’s, why do we still have them? Well, for starters, it’s a good skill builder. It shows that you can put together a portfolio of things you have down in the past and present them to someone...
